Injection Mold Maintenance

1. Daily Cleaning and Lubrication

Daily cleaning is fundamental to maintaining the mold's optimal working condition. After each injection molding production cycle, promptly clean the mold surface of plastic residue, oil, and other impurities to prevent their accumulation, which can affect the mold's opening and closing movements and the molding quality of the plastic products. Use specialized mold cleaners and tools for cleaning. Simultaneously, lubricate moving parts of the mold, such as guide pillars, guide sleeves, and sliders, by applying an appropriate amount of lubricant to reduce friction between parts and extend the mold's service life.

2. Regular Inspection and Repair

Perform a comprehensive inspection of the mold regularly, including its appearance, dimensional accuracy, and the performance of each system. Check the mold surface for defects such as wear and cracks, and repair any problems promptly. For example, minor wear on the mold surface can be repaired by polishing; severely worn or damaged parts, such as ejector pins and sprue bushings, should be replaced immediately. Regularly check the mold's cooling channels for blockages; clean any blockages promptly. Check the venting system for proper functioning and clean and maintain the venting channels. In addition, the positioning rings, positioning pins, and other positioning components of the mold should be inspected regularly to ensure the accurate installation position of the mold on the injection molding machine.

3. Mold Storage

When the mold is not used for an extended period, it needs to be properly stored. First, the mold should be thoroughly cleaned and maintained, and a rust inhibitor should be applied to the mold surface to prevent rusting. Then, the mold should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated environment to avoid moisture, corrosion, and other adverse effects. For large molds, appropriate support methods should be used to prevent deformation due to their own weight. During storage, the mold should be inspected regularly to ensure it is in good condition and ready for use at any time.
